How to Print a Test Page on Windows

Use these steps to print a Windows test page, then use our printable color, CMYK, black and white or alignment sheets if you need a deeper print quality check.

Print a Windows Test Page

  1. Open Settings on Windows.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners.
  3. Select your printer from the list.
  4. Open Printer properties or the printer settings screen.
  5. Choose Print Test Page.

The built-in Windows test page is useful for checking whether Windows can communicate with the printer. It does not always show missing colors, clogged inkjet nozzles, grayscale issues or alignment problems clearly.

Need a better quality check? Use the color printer test page, CMYK test page or alignment test page after the Windows test page prints.

If the Windows Test Page Does Not Print

  • Check the selected printer: make sure the printer you want is the default or currently selected device.
  • Check the queue: clear stuck jobs and try again.
  • Reconnect the printer: reseat the USB cable or reconnect Wi-Fi.
  • Restart both devices: restart Windows and power-cycle the printer.
  • Try a PDF test sheet: download a printer test page PDF and print it from your PDF viewer.
