How to Print a Test Page on Mac

macOS does not always show a simple universal test page button for every printer, so the easiest method is to print a clean browser-based or PDF printer test sheet.

Print a Test Page on macOS

  1. Open one of the free test sheets on Printer Test Print.
  2. Click the Print button on the page.
  3. Choose your printer in the macOS print dialog.
  4. Set scale to 100% when exact alignment matters.
  5. Print the sheet and compare the results with the on-screen pattern.

You can also download a printer test page PDF, open it in Preview, and print from there. PDF printing is useful when you want to repeat the same test later.

Best first choice: Use the color printer test page for general print quality, then move to the CMYK, grayscale or alignment page based on what looks wrong.

What to Try If Your Mac Prints Blank Pages

  • Check ink or toner: a cartridge may be empty, clogged or not seated correctly.
  • Check the selected printer: macOS may have sent the job to a different printer.
  • Try another app: print a PDF test page from Preview to rule out browser settings.
  • Run maintenance: use your printer utility for cleaning, nozzle check or alignment.
  • Use the blank page test: open the blank printer test page to check for faint marks and margin output.
