Printer Test Page (for HP Printers)
1 · Color Blocks
Tri-color HP cartridges combine CMY inks — a missing mixed color (red, green or blue) reveals which ink inside the cartridge is out.
2 · Black Text Samples

How to Use This Test Page with an HP Printer
This sheet works on every HP printer family — DeskJet and ENVY home inkjets, OfficeJet all-in-ones, ink-tank Smart Tank models and LaserJet laser printers. It complements HP's built-in diagnostics with a quick browser-based check you can run from any device.
Print the sheet
Click the print button, choose your HP printer and keep color mode enabled with normal quality.
Check colors first
The color blocks quickly show whether the tri-color or individual ink cartridges are healthy.
Verify text & lines
Fuzzy text and doubled lines mean the printhead needs alignment — common after cartridge changes.
Use HP's tools to fix
Run cleaning or alignment from the HP Smart app or the printer's own menu, then reprint to confirm.
What to Check After Printing
- Missing red, green or blue: on HP tri-color cartridges, these mixed colors fail when one internal ink runs out — the cartridge needs replacing even if some colors still print.
- Streaky black block: clogged black nozzles (inkjet) or low toner (LaserJet) — run cleaning or redistribute/replace the toner.
- Doubled grid lines: printhead alignment is off; run alignment from the HP Smart app or the printer's maintenance menu.
- Merged grayscale steps: tone reproduction problems that will flatten photos and shaded charts.
- Broken fine lines: partial nozzle clogs that will soon spread to visible streaks — clean early.
HP Printer Testing Tips
Many HP inkjets use a single tri-color cartridge containing cyan, magenta and yellow together. That design has a practical consequence: when one internal color runs dry, all mixed colors shift — greens turn blue-ish without yellow, reds turn orange without magenta. The color block row on this sheet is arranged so you can identify the exhausted ink from which mixed colors fail. HP printers also print an internal test page of their own (usually via the printer's touchscreen under Tools or Reports, or by holding specific buttons on button-only models); running both that page and this one gives you a firmware-level and a driver-level view of the same hardware.
For deeper diagnosis after this overview sheet, use the color test page for full color analysis, the black and white test page for document quality, or the alignment test page if lines print doubled or skewed.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Printer Test Print is an independent website with no affiliation to HP. This is a general-purpose test sheet designed to work well with HP printers — and any other brand. For firmware-level diagnostics, HP printers can also print their own internal report from the printer's menu.
On most touchscreen HP models: Settings or Tools → Reports → Print Quality Report. On button-only models, a button combination (often holding the cancel or resume button) prints a test page — the exact combination varies by model, so check your printer's manual. This browser-based sheet is a convenient alternative that needs no menu access.
On tri-color cartridge models, one of the three internal inks is likely empty or its nozzles are clogged. Run a cleaning cycle from the HP Smart app; if the color doesn't return, the cartridge needs replacement. On individual-cartridge models, the missing color identifies the exact cartridge.
Yes. On a mono LaserJet the color blocks simply print as grays, while the text, line, grayscale and coverage sections give a complete toner and drum check. Color LaserJets can use the full sheet.
